Sound quality on the BE Free8 was unexpectedly wonderful for its size. With 6mm dynamic drivers, the BE Free8 did a great job of producing satisfactory highs, mids, and lows. When listening to soundtracks such as The Greatest Showman, I could get a good distinction between the lows of the drums and the mids and highs of the string instruments, all without sounding muddled. Hip-Hop and EDM came in with that great pulsating bump from 808 drums that everybody loves. Sound quality was also heightened with the BE Free8 support of both AAC and aptX for high fidelity audio.
They’re really nice. They’re wireless and they just fit in your ear.
What I love about them is if Darth Vadar or Kylo Ren had headphones this would be them. It’s not like the earbuds you see a lot of people wear – those white earbuds. They mould inside your ear and look a lot better.
They’re good for music – which is obviously very important.
As you know, I do love to listen to my own podcasts and they are very good for listening to my own podcasts.
They make you sound great!
I listen to podcasts and live radio mostly and the sound quality has been very good. They provide a strong bass and crystal clear audio. Although not an advertised feature, I did find these headphones good at blocking out external sounds.
The BE Free8 headphones have a rating of IPX5, making them weather resistant, ensuring protection from rain and sweat. I can vouch for this as I walk a lot and have been caught in many showers without any damage caused to the headphones. The headphones also give vocal feedback, telling you when the headphones are on or off, as well as the volume and battery levels.
Now that I’ve used wireless, I can’t see me going back to wired.
They are light. Easy to connect. Easy to set up.
You buy these fundamentally for easy of use, lack of wires and speed.
The sound is on par with others.
Overall pretty good value if you are looking for a set of Bluetooth wireless high quality in-ear headphones – these are probably the ones to go for.
They’re not bad. Not bad at all.
Fully wireless ear plugs almost without irritation
Optoma NuForce BeFree8 is a solid pair of fully wired ear plugs. The buds of Apple are clear, but Optoma's channel plug design offers better sound and better noise isolation.
All in all, these should definitely be taken into consideration if you are looking for ear plugs without any kind of cable.
"Optoma advertises the BE Free8 with an uncompromising sound, wireless freedom and a long battery life of up to 16 hours including charging case charging. I agree with the whole thing, the sound of the BE Free8 is very good for its size, even though, as already mentioned, the bass could be a bit more present. The Processing and the battery life were also convincing."
Listening to a lossless ALAC file of My Lagan Love by Kate Bush, the haunting a cappella solo vocal is delivered with a clear light tone and an attractive sense of space that seems t fill the air all around my head, despite the compact design of the little earbuds.
Head of the class
Most wire-free models trade sound quality for convenience, but the BE Free8 defies its compact design to provide surprisingly clear and attractive sound quality.
“The sound of the Nuforce Be Free8 is clear and clean, thanks to the very stable connection and the AptX codec support. The bass range is tight without being too hard. It adapts to the middle and highs with a sonorous basic sound reproduction to give straight voices a pleasant timbre. Price/ performance: good – very good"
“Comfortable, powerful and practical. The Optoma NuForce BE Free8 Optoma are a successful debut on the true wireless headphone market. If you just want to relax while you're out or about to do sports, if you need a practical headset for listening to music and making phone calls, you should get yourself a pair of BeFree8. The price and performance ratio is very good”
Many companies have tried but as of yet, no-one seems to have gotten it quite right. Optoma with the BEFree8’s has gotten closer than any earpieces I’ve ever used.
Their real strong point for me wasn’t music but podcasts and audiobooks. I’m a big fan of these normally and the BEFree8’s voice reproduction was perfect.
In conclusion, we’ve got a decent pair of Bluetooth headphones with a battery life that will be enough for most people, some moisture resistance and a wonderfully light feel. If you’re an audiophile you’re going to be a bit disappointed but they’re good for most casual listening and absolutely perfect for audiobooks and podcasts. Recommended.
Nuforce can do it; The Nuforce BE Free8 is very convincing with its excellent sound quality. The price/ performance ratio is very good
NuForce BE Free8 surprised positively with good sound quality and comfort. This at a reasonably low price. There are quite a few features, but one I really appreciated was that the right earphone was shut down when the left was pulled out of the ear.
BE Free8 is easy to connect. It is usually connected via Bluetooth and when the connection is properly established, the right is automatically connected to the left.
Sound quality is pretty good, and I didn't spot any audio lag between the left and right buds. Sound quality was fine for listening while using public transport, walking around, watching catch-up TV, and streaming movies -- all the kinds of things, in fact, that I use earphones for in addition to hands-free calling. There's no leakage, so I could listen to audio without disturbing others -- always a good thing.
The Optoma NuForce BE Free8 true wireless earbuds tick a lot of boxes. They're comfortable to wear, easy to use and offer plenty of battery life (if you keep the charge case topped up), with no noticeable audio lag between the buds, and good sound quality.
Outrageously good sound
I have to give Optoma props where they are due, and the design of these are pretty damn great.
The earbuds sound amazing with AptX HD support, and if your phone can support it like my Huawei Mate 10 Pro can, you get some absolutely ridiculous sound out of these minuscule buds.
If you can afford these, the Optoma nuForce Be Free8’s are stunningly good, outrageously great for Bluetooth buds. They sound ridiculous, the battery life is impeccable and the connection between the buds, a pain point for most truly wireless earbuds, doesn’t seem to be an issue here.
“The NuForce BE Free8 are superb wireless earbuds, that come with a very useful charging case. The case can re-charge the earbuds up to three times. Audio quality is quite simply amazing. In my opinion, these are better performers than Apple's AirPods.”
“When you are listening to vocals – they sound very smooth and you have got so much detail – I was really impressed.”
“The actual audio quality that these deliver is very impressive indeed. If you want a pair of wireless earbuds that have no wires connecting between – so are totally separate and they create a premium high quality sound with awesome build quality as well then these are well worth checking out!”
Lydogbilde gave the BE Free8 five stars and an ‘Especially Recommended’ award. They said:
“the sound is very surprising and if you are particularly fond of bass-heavy music, you will appreciate BE Free8.
“BE Free8 is generous with the deep tones. Mid and treble are also good”
“Optoma NuForce BE Free8 is a good proof that you should not judge a book on the cover.
“the price is still a particularly attractive option on a completely wireless earplug.”
In terms of fit, these fit snug in the ears without any discomfort. I was able to walk and jump and they did not fall out, Being IPX5 would be ideal for the gym.
Compared to the audio quality of the Sony WF-1000X, the BE Free8 are far superior to the Sony’s. The BE Free8 are also superior in sound to AirPods, with more bass and passive noise cancellation.
If you are looking for a wire free in ear headphone, the Optoma NuForce BE Free8 are in a league of their own. Highly recommended.
You could certainly use them as everyday earbuds, thanks to a respectable-by-true-wireless-standards battery life of around 4 hours. Connectivity is more reliable than previous-generation true wireless buds, and as noted, the sound quality, bolstered by AAC and Apt-X compatibility, is also very good, at least by true wireless standards.
With IPX5 moisture proofing they're considered sweatproof and rainproof, and should therefore be equally at home when running or gymming.
An air-tight seal allows small dynamic transducers to deliver a powerful bass—with a restricted volume of air to move they are literally punching well above their weight.
Perfect, for example, for traveling on London’s noisy Underground.
You’ll find the physical construction and wireless implementation of the BE Free8s are a very good match, certainly able to deliver very acceptable CD audio quality. Used for on-the-go, outdoor sound delivery—their design intention—they’re hard to fault.
They won’t fall out at the gym, or get waterlogged on the beach. Returned to their case when not in use, they should give you an all-day charge, delivering very clean, CD quality sound
They offer a good sound, are easy to setup, connect easily to your phone and have an incredibly strong battery life.
With a more secure and tight fit, we've been treated to a pleasant sound. Listening to some house music has shown the BeFree 8 can certainly deliver audio with plenty of energy. There's a great amount of detail on offer, too, so we soon find ourselves dancing around our room.
The fact the included case can recharge the earphones three times over gives them one of the longest battery lives of any current wire-free headphones, which if you use them constantly for exercise will mean you won't be reaching for the charging cable every night. And the waterproofing means exercise is high up the list.
The Optoma NuForce BE Free8 are very good wireless Bluetooth earphones! In fact, these are the best I've ever used.
The BE Free8 offer a very good sound with a well-balanced bass.
“The Optoma NuForce BE Free8 are a pair of excellent bare-bones headphones that won’t break the bank. The headphones nail the basics with ease of use, sound quality and battery life.…for listening to music on the go, the NuForce BE Free8 are a solid option. A major factor contributing to its success, noise isolation is excellent once you get the right fit. Optoma includes a variety of tips for you to try so make sure to try them all to ensure you’re getting the best fit. On a noisy train and plane, the BE Free8 managed to block out most of the outside ambient noise.Battery life is excellent for truly wireless earbuds with a combined listening time of 16 hours.”
“For the same price as Apple AirPods, you can get better sound from NuForce.”
There's good bass reproduction for such tiny headphones. They're engineered to work with both the aptX and AAC audio standards. There's a remarkable lack of listening fatigue when you compare them to other Bluetooth in-ear headphones in this price range.
These Optomas offer up to four hours on a single charge, with a further three full charges harnessed within the case before you need to plug it back in.
All in all it's a really sensible package, which is just about the highest praise we can lavish upon the design of a product like this. They’re easy to use, too, with the near-standard multi-use buttons for play/pause, track skipping and mic. And there are no issues with pairing - we're connected within moments.
The balance is decent, devoid of really flabby bass or rough edges. And while the Free8s aren't overly analytical, they are detailed enough - there’s enough body to anchor the mix effectively.
“Based on the sound quality, the Optoma Nuforce BE Free8 is amongst the best true wireless Bluetooth in-ear headphones. Optoma Nuforce shows that true wireless in-ears do not have to hide and tonally they are the benchmark for true wireless in-ear models. They have excellent bass and wide and accurate stage performance.”
“The sound of Nuforce BEFree8 is clean and clear, supported by a tight bass foundation. The impressive low frequency range is adjusted to the mid and high frequencies with a sonorous basic sound reproduction.”
"We liked the charging case, which is small and features external LEDs that show whether the earbuds are charging. Pairing is easy enough, and the connection was relatively stable during our tests. We also appreciated that the control buttons aren’t painful to press, although they’re limited in function. The fit was somewhat divisive, with half of our testers feeling that the BE Free8 pieces were secure, and the other half concerned that they might lose an earbud when jogging to catch a train".
"Optoma boasts of its proprietary NuForce Sonic coating for its dynamic drivers that is promised to significantly reduce distortion and make transient response extremely fast."
“Many of the previous offerings we’ve reviewed have had their issues. The Optoma NuForce BE Free8 wire-free headphones have set out to fix those issues. I believe they may be the first in a new way of wire-free headphones that are worth looking into.Overall I think Optoma has finally beaten the dropped signal between buds and is doing well in this category.”
